SC (Subscriber Connector)
Push-pull latch mechanism with 2.5 mm zirconia ferrule. One of the most widely deployed connector types in telecom and FTTH networks. Available in simplex and duplex. Standard interface for GPON ONUs, OLT uplinks, and fiber patch panels. UPC (blue) and APC (green) variants available.
LC (Lucent Connector)
Miniature 1.25 mm ferrule with latching tab. Half the footprint of SC, enabling twice the port density in patch panels and transceivers. The dominant interface in modern data centers and SFP/SFP+ transceiver modules. Available in UPC and APC; simplex and duplex. OS2, OM3, OM4, OM5 compatible.
FC (Ferrule Connector)
Threaded screw-on coupling mechanism with 2.5 mm ferrule. Preferred in test and measurement equipment, OTDR instruments, and high-vibration environments where the threaded lock prevents accidental disconnection. Common in older telecom central office equipment.
ST (Straight Tip)
Bayonet-style twist-lock connector with 2.5 mm ferrule. Widely used in legacy enterprise LAN, security cameras, and industrial fiber installations. Less common in new deployments but still required for maintaining and extending existing ST-based infrastructures.
MTP / MPO (Multi-Fiber Push-On)
High-density multi-fiber connector supporting 12, 24, or 48 fibers in a single push-pull housing. Standard for 40G / 100G / 400G data center structured cabling using parallel optics. Available with male (guide pins) or female (no pins) ferrules. Compatible with OM3, OM4, OM5, and OS2 fiber.
E2000 (LSH)
Spring-loaded shutter connector that auto-closes when unplugged, protecting the end-face from contamination. Popular in European telecom networks, medical equipment, and military/defense fiber systems where fiber-end protection is critical during frequent connect/disconnect cycles.

The ferrule end-face polish angle determines how reflected light is handled — a critical factor in analog CATV, GPON, and any system sensitive to back-reflection.

What Determines Connection Quality
Long-term reliability of a fiber optic connection depends on four material and process factors across every product in the range.
Zirconia Ceramic Ferrule
SC and FC connectors use 2.5 mm ferrules; LC uses 1.25 mm. Concentricity tolerance ≤0.5 µm ensures core alignment at the fiber junction. Zirconia provides hardness, thermal stability, and consistent surface finish after polishing — superior to phosphor bronze for low insertion loss.
G.652D / G.657A2 Fiber
Single-mode patch cords and pigtails use ITU-T G.652D (standard SMF) or G.657A2 (bend-insensitive). Multimode products use OM3 (50/125 µm, 2 GHz·km) or OM4 (50/125 µm, 4.7 GHz·km). All fiber is Corning or equivalent primary brand.
LSZH / PVC / Armored Jacket
Patch cord outer jackets are LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) for indoor plenum/riser installations, or PVC for general use. Outdoor and armored assemblies add stainless steel interlocking armor and HDPE outer jacket for mechanical protection, UV resistance, and rodent deterrence.
End-Face Polish
PC (flat dome), UPC (enhanced dome), and APC (8° angle) polishes are applied using automated polishing machines with controlled load and lap timing. Final end-face geometry is verified by interferometric measurement: radius of curvature, apex offset, and fiber undercut/protrusion per IEC 61300-3-26.

They are designed for FTTH drop cable termination where installation speed is critical and fusion splicing is not practical. Our SC/APC fast connectors deliver ≤0.3 dB average insertion loss and ≥55 dB return loss. They are appropriate for GPON drop cable connections at subscriber premises but are generally not recommended for permanent, high-reliability ODF terminations where fusion spliced pigtails are preferred.
Q: What is the difference between a fiber patch cord and a pigtail?
A: A fiber patch cord has connectors on both ends and is used to cross-connect two already-terminated ports — for example, connecting a transceiver module to a patch panel. A fiber optic pigtail is terminated on one end only; the other end is bare fiber designed to be fusion-spliced into a trunk cable or splice tray. Pigtails are the standard solution for terminating incoming cables at distribution frames and splice closures, while patch cords are used for active equipment connections and cross-connects.
