Product Overview

One enclosure for feeder entry, fiber splicing, splitter routing and drop distribution

The GL-FDB-96B is designed for the distribution layer of an FTTH optical distribution network. It gives installers a protected point to secure incoming cables, organize fusion splices, store controlled fiber slack and route outputs toward subscriber drops. The compartmented internal layout helps keep working fibers separated from cable fixation and storage areas during installation and maintenance.

High Quality Fiber Distribution Box

Best fit

Use this model where a compact outdoor node must serve multiple drops while retaining more splice-tray capacity than a conventional 16-port wall box. It is particularly useful for phased deployment, feeder branching and projects that need reserve fibers inside the same enclosure.

Confirm another enclosure when:

  • Each subscriber requires an individually hardened connector port.
  • The location is exposed to flooding, continuous immersion or high-pressure washdown.
  • The splitter package or cable diameter cannot fit the selected internal layout.

Deployment-Focused Features

Built around field access, routing control and configuration flexibility

Built around field access, routing control and configuration flexibility

The enclosure is not only a protective shell. Its value comes from how it separates cable entry, splice handling, splitter placement and drop routing so technicians can work without disturbing unrelated fibers.

01

PC+ABS enclosure

Impact-resistant composite housing provides a practical balance of mechanical protection, weight and outdoor durability for wall and pole installations.

02

Layered internal management

Splice trays, cable fixation and slack-storage areas are arranged to reduce crossing between feeder fibers, pigtails and outgoing fibers.

03

Splitter-ready routing

Internal space can be configured for compact PLC splitters, including common 1×4, 1×8 and 1×16 ratios, subject to package dimensions.

04

Dual main cable entry

Two primary cable entry positions support feeder entry, branching or pass-through planning while retaining dedicated routing for drop cables.

05

Serviceable splice trays

Removable or hinged tray access helps technicians complete fusion work and return trays to position without rebuilding the entire fiber route.

06

Three mounting methods

The same enclosure platform can be specified for direct wall mounting, pole mounting or aerial messenger-wire installation.

Feeder EntryCable enters through the selected sealed port.
FixationJacket and strength member are mechanically secured.
Fusion SplicingFibers are organized in stacked splice trays.
PLC SplittingOptional splitter divides the optical signal.
Drop RoutingOutputs are routed to subscriber-side cables.

Ordering Configuration

Choose the loading level that matches your installation workflow

Standardizing the loaded scope across a rollout reduces field assembly time and makes quotations comparable. The box can be supplied at different levels depending on whether your team installs passive components in the factory or on site.

  • Pre-routed internal fibers
  • Port numbering and BOM
  • Optical test report for loaded components

Installation Options

Adapt the enclosure to the site instead of forcing one mounting method

The mounting method should be specified together with cable direction, service height and maintenance clearance. Each option requires the correct bracket or strap kit.

Wall mounting method for outdoor fiber distribution box

Wall Mounting

Suitable for building exteriors, equipment rooms and protected vertical surfaces with controlled cable approach.

Pole mounting method for GL-FDB-96B fiber distribution box

Pole Mounting

Uses a compatible clamp or banding kit to position the box above ground and close to aerial distribution routes.

Messenger wire mounting method for fiber distribution box

Messenger-Wire Mounting

Supports aerial deployment where the enclosure must follow the overhead cable route without a nearby wall or pole face.

Verify the project drawing:Confirm orientation, bracket, port map, cable entry and service clearance before drilling or banding.
Secure the enclosure:Mount the empty box first and check that the cover, tray and side access can open fully.
Prepare cable entries:Use glands or grommets matched to the actual cable outside diameter; keep unused ports sealed.
Fix the incoming cable:Clamp the jacket and strength member before routing loose tubes or fibers into the splice area.
Splice and store fibers:Keep the bend radius controlled and place protection sleeves in the tray holders without stacking pressure.
Route splitter outputs:Separate working pigtails from reserve fibers and avoid crossing hinges, latches and sealing surfaces.
Label every circuit:Match the internal tray, splitter output and external drop identification to the approved port map.
Inspect and close:Check the gasket, port seals, cable strain relief and cover compression before final optical testing.

Application Scenarios

Designed for practical FTTH distribution points

The enclosure works best where feeder and distribution fibers need a protected, serviceable transition before the final subscriber drop.

Residential Street FTTH

Distributes fibers from an outdoor feeder or distribution cable toward multiple homes from a shared wall or pole node.

MDU Building Entry

Provides reserve splicing and drop routing at the building entrance before fibers continue to risers or floor boxes.

Pole-Mounted Access Node

Keeps feeder fixation, splice trays and outgoing drop routes accessible above ground for maintenance teams.

Aerial Distribution Route

Supports messenger-mounted sections where a conventional wall location is unavailable along the cable path.

Quality and Acceptance

Define acceptance around the delivered configuration

For project procurement, the enclosure, sealing parts and loaded optical components should be checked as one delivered system rather than as unrelated parts.

Housing inspection Surface, latch, hinge, gasket seating, tray operation and dimensional check.
Cable-entry fit Confirm gland or grommet range against the project cable OD and unused-port plugs.
Internal routing Check bend radius, tray loading, sleeve placement, slack storage and hinge clearance.
Optical test For loaded units, record insertion loss and return loss for the supplied pigtail, adapter and splitter path.
Port identification Verify external ports, internal outputs and tray labels against the approved port map.
Mounting kit Confirm wall screws, pole straps, clamps or messenger hardware match the quotation.
Documentation Review drawing, BOM, packing list, test report and carton label before shipment.
Packaging Protect latches, cable ports and mounting accessories from deformation or loss in transit.

FAQ

Q: Is GL-FDB-96B a 16-port box or a 96-fiber box?

A: It is specified with 16 service positions and a splice-tray system that can be configured for up to 96 fusion splices. Port count and splice capacity are different values, so both should appear in the quotation.

Q: Can the box hold a PLC splitter?

A: Yes. The internal layout can support compact PLC splitter packages, including common 1×4, 1×8 and 1×16 ratios. The exact package dimensions and fiber fan-out must be checked before the BOM is finalized.

Q: Can it be supplied with SC/APC adapters and pigtails?

A: A loaded version can be configured with the required adapters, pigtails and PLC splitter. State the connector polish, pigtail length, fiber type and port map in the RFQ.
